Still not convinced |

Having read the reviews on Amazon for this product, I thought it would be ideal for my needs. Works with virtually all operating instructions says the advert. However, when it arrives there are no instructions and no drivers for Windows XP. Ok, being an experienced windows user, no instructions was not really a problem, I could work it out. However, no drivers was a problem. So onto the Linksys website where I discovered that there were no drivers available for the product I had. Brilliant. I emailed Linksys, once, twice, three times and still no reply. I have now sent a complaint to Linksys to see if that gets me a reply. It would not really bother me if I could get hold of the drivers for the product, but it arrived here last week and I can still not use it. Hopefully, the product will live up to its reputation when I get this problem sorted!!?? I would like to hear from anyone who has installed this product on XP, and where they got the drivers from. Great Value Network Package - Ideal For Sharing Internet |
I was drawn into buying this when I read about it being "ADSL compatable". I wanted to order broadband internet but I had 2 pcs that I wanted to share the conneciton. At the same time I thought Ill buy a network kit so I can share files/play games accross the network e.t.c.I was very impressed, it is very fast and fairly easy to set up. (It comes with lots of instructions so dont worry if you have never installed hardware into your computer before) I was even more impressed with the internet sharing, it comes with a great programme to turn one of the computers into an internet server. (Make sure you download the update for this before you set it up). The internet download speeds on the client were indenticall to the server (around 100kbs). The support is excellent. I sent several emails and got a reply on the day I sent them! Great Value Package, All you need to set up two pcs to communicate and share the internet.

All you need to network in one box. |

I wanted to link the households two PCs together so we could share files, printers and eventually the broadband cable connection we had ordered. I checked out a few makes and decided on this network kit. After checking a few suppliers I found Amazon to be the cheapest yet again and within 36hours I had the kit in my hands. (Ordered late evening, despatched next morning and arrived the morning after that). The hub is small and once you tidy up the cables from the back looks really neat and unobtrusive. The LAN cards were easy to install although it did cause one of my PCs to auto power up as soon as I inserted it, so best switch off at the mains or remove the power cord. The cables are blue to match the hub I assume and at 15 feet each may be a little small if you want to connect in different rooms. The hardware and cables were installed in les than 10 minutes and then came the computer setup. This was so quick and simple I felt I must have missed something! It was extremely easy, even without any implicit instructions for use in windows XP. Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000 and NT had their own separate quick installation guides as well as the comprehensive user guide that covered all in more detail. I booted up and straightaway XP found the hardware it identified it correctly then found a driver installed it and then opened the network set up wizard for me. After a reboot or two on each PC I had a full functioning network it was that simple. No problems at all so far with file or using a dial up modem to connect both PCs to the internet. I have yet to use it with broadband but dont anticipate any problems. The kit gives you everything you need for networking 2 PCs together for a bargain price.
